Summer Cocktails

Learn to mix two customizable cocktails in between frames guided by veteran mixologists that are ready to teach you two of our summer favorites – The Tom Collins and Summer Smash. There is no formal sit-down instruction, you get to mix, sip, and hopefully bowl strikes!

Tom Collins: You’d think that the Tom Collins was just named after a guy named who either invented it or liked to drink it. But it turns out that it dates to the Great Tom Collins hoax of 1874. In this hoax, people would start a conversation by asking “have you seen Tom Collins.” When the target would say no, they didn’t know any Tom Collins, the speaker would tell them that Tom Collins was just around the corner, or in a local bar, and was talking about them. The goal was to get the listener to rush off to find this Tom Collins and get him to shut up. Newspapers even got in on the joke, publishing false sightings of Tom Collins. Advertisers would namecheck him in ads. And multiple songs were written about him. While the hoax started in New York, it quickly spread to Boston, Philadelphia, St. Louis, and would ran rampant all over the country until enough people had gotten pranked that it didn’t work anymore. The drink was probably invented by some enterprising barman who could greet the prankee with a tall glass with the name he was looking for. It has used a variety of spirits through time and has a wonderful flexibility to be personalized to your tastes by selecting your own combination of citrus, sweetener, and spirit. 

Summer Smash: Our favorite thing to do with spirits in the summer. Whatever fruit is in season, whatever herb you think will go nicely with it, ginger if you want it. You could double-strain this drink if you want a more refined presentation, but we like it with rustic chewy bits. Some combos: blueberry & basil, peaches & sage, strawberries & mint, blackberries & tarragon…

This is a pre-order event. One full sized drink of each cocktail and gratuity are included in the pricing. A very limited amount of tickets will be available for purchase at the event  This is a mix and mingle so no need to grab a seat just come and mix when you are ready and a space is available.
