If you like walnuts, it’s worth seeking out Nux Alpina, a specific brand of the slightly bitter but mostly sweet Italian liqueur style of Nocino. In last month’s Autumn Cocktail class we used it in an Old Fashioned variant that’s just packed with the flavors of fall.
2 oz bourbon
1/4 oz Nux Alpina
1/4 oz maple syrup
1 dash Bittermens Xocolatl Mole Bitters (or substitute Angostura)
Combine all ingredients in mixing glass with ice. Stir well, then strain into to an ice-filled old-fashioned glass.
