I like to call the 1970s to 1990s the “dark ages” of cocktails. It was a pretty dire time for drinking, but those decades also helped pave the way for the cocktail renaissance we have been experiencing since the early 2000s. By the 2010s, every restaurant is advertising a craft cocktail list, whiskey overtakes vodka in sales, bartenders become celebrities, and non-alcoholic/zero-proof cocktails make headlines. We’ll talk about the key trends of the 2010s and look ahead to what might be hot in the 2020s.

My online classes combine engaging audio-visual content with informative storytelling with mixing instruction. You’ll learn the history of the cocktails and their ingredients, then get to mix your own drinks and share your experience with others from the comfort of your own home. The class centers around 2 featured cocktails for the decade, but you’ll receive an expanded recipe list with alternatives you can make instead or as well, depending on the contents of your lockdown liquor cabinet and pandemic pantry.

Each session is limited to a small number of signups so we can keep things interactive, just like an in-person Tammy’s Tastings class. But you can have multiple people sharing your computer screen for a single ticket purchase, so feel free to bring your spouse/SO/stranded college kids – pricing is per computer connected, not per person!

“This class was super fun and I’m not just saying that because now we’re snockered. I learned much more than I expected to. If you’re a sucker for cultural history of any kind and you like drinks, this is a must-do.”
