Scandinavians have been making this caraway and herb infused spirit since the 1500’s, but it’s a relative unknown in the US. Time to change that! Aquavit is best thought as a cousin of gin, and just like its juniper-based cousin, it’s great for summer mixing. In this class, I’ll be joined by Robyn Cleveland from Michigan’s Norden Aquavit to talk about aquavit history and how to use it in cocktails. Norden is available in several states and can be shipped to even more, and don’t worry – other readily available aquavits will work in the cocktails too.
You’ll receive a list of several recipes in advance so you can pick which drinks you’d like to make in our mix-along time. Online class sessions are limited to a small number of signups so we can keep things interactive, just like an in-person Tammy’s Tastings class. But you can have multiple people sharing your computer screen for a single ticket purchase, so feel free to bring your spouse/SO/stranded college kids – pricing is per computer connected, not per person!
