When it comes to apples, most of us think of Granny Smith, Gala, or (blech) Red Delicious. However, farmers once grew thousands of varieties of apples – a reference book published in 1905 lists 17,000 different known varieties! In this tasting event you’ll explore some of these heirloom varieties which a few orchards are still growing today. They have not only delicious and unusual tastes and textures, but great stories too. You’ll also sample some different cheddar cheeses to complement the apples.
