Put on your best Derby hat and join me for a mix-along cocktail class to get ready for the run for the roses. I’ll walk you step-by-step through three cocktails inspired by the races. You’ll learn tricks for making great cocktails as well as the history and stories that go with the drinks! We’ll finish up just in time for you settle in to watch the most exciting two minutes in sports.
Oaks Lily – Mix up my version of the official drink of the Kentucky Oaks, held a few days before the Derby. It’s an easy drinking mix of vodka (or gin if you prefer), lemon juice, orange liqueur and cranberry juice.
Preakness Cocktail – Not the official drink of the Preakness race, but so much better! Rye, sweet vermouth and Benedictine combine in this Manhattan riff.
Mint Julep – The one, the only, the official drink of the races! And a drink with a long and fascinating history. Yes, it’s just mint, bourbon, sugar and crushed ice – but if you combine them in just the right way makes all the difference.
NOTE: Past mix-along classes have included the option to purchase cocktail kits. If you are in the Ann Arbor area and interested in this, let me know before signing up for the class, and I’ll see if there’s enough interest to make that possible.
Pricing is per computer connected, not per person! Perfect if you’re having a Derby-watching gathering! Gather your group and mix together.
NOTE TO GIFT CERTIFICATE HOLDERS – Gift certificates marked as good for $15 classes can also be used for $19 classes at no additional charge!
