April’s class at Antietam in Detroit found us exploring the many delicious ways eggs can improve our cocktails. The Averna Stout Flip is a rich and decadent drink. A little bit sweet and a little bit bitter, with richness from the whole egg, it’s a great drinkable dessert.
Averna Stout Flip
2 oz Averna
1 oz Stout (something full and rich, we use Dragon’s Milk)
2 dashes Angostura bitters
1 whole egg
Garnish: grated nutmeg
Combine all ingredients in shaker with ice. Shake hard for at least 30 seconds. Strain into wine glass, garnish with nutmeg.
